FAQ about drinking water

Where can I see my consumption?

Your water meter continuously records your water consumption. We read the meter once a month, and you can access the latest reading at the beginning of each month on "My supply" - in Danish called 'minForsyning'.

What is a normal water consumption?

On average it is approx. 50 m³ of water per adult and 25 m³ per child annually.

Should I keep an eye on my water meter?

It is a good idea to regularly check the water meter. That way you are more likely to discover more hidden breaks or if your water meter is defective. Also, look for alarm symbols on the meter.

Why do I use more water than usual?

If you use more water than usual, you can check whether the pointer in the display on the meter is completely still when no water is used. If the water meter shows that water is still flowing through, there may be a break in the water line - or perhaps the toilet is running without you having noticed it.

Why doesn't my water always taste the same?

The composition of the water varies, depending on where you live and the time of day and year. The reason is that the water comes from two different waterworks, Lundtofte and Sjælsø Vandværk.

What can I do to take care of our drinking water?

If you want to help take care of our groundwater, don’t use chemicals in your garden. A single drop of pesticide can contaminate an entire household's drinking water. Therefore, we encourage everyone to use natural alternatives instead.

Don’t pour oil, paint, varnish, turpentine, and other chemicals onto your property or into the drain. Your chemicals must be handed in as hazardous waste at the recycling station.

How often do you check the quality of the water?

Annually, we take approximately 75 samples from boreholes, water works, pumping stations and water towers.
